The program you will need to study that is directly related to this career is Automotive Technology, typically all you need to start your career as an auto mechanic is a Highschool diploma, formal training and obviously some on the job training before you can really consider yourself ready to move forward with this part of your life. “Many automobile mechanics learn their skills through formal training programs. Professional-technical schools and two-year colleges offer these programs. Most auto mechanic programs combine classroom instruction and hands-on practice. Training lasts six months to two years. Some automobile manufacturers and dealers provide training programs at professional-technical or two-year schools. In this type of training program, you study in the classroom and work in the dealer's shop. Every six to eight weeks you rotate between work and study. Some dealers help pay for tuition or the purchase of tools.” - WOIS      There are plenty of tec...

Pay range

“Mechanics are paid using one of several options. Some are paid a "flat rate." This means they are paid for a set number of hours for a particular repair. For example, they might be given one hour of pay to complete an oil change. If mechanics take longer than an hour to complete the task, they are not paid extra. However, if they complete the job in less than an hour, they are still paid for a full hour of work. Other mechanics are paid a set hourly wage regardless of the type of repairs they do. A few are paid a flat rate plus a commission based on the labor cost charged to customers.” - WOIS In the state of Washington the hourly median is $21.04 and you will usually be be working a 40 hour week, this will roughly lead to $3,646 a month or $43,741 a year and to many this may not seem like much,as a matter of fact it is right below the median income in the United States that is $49,445 reported by a survey of Americans by WSL/ strategic retail (2010). Depending on yo...

Work environment and skills

The job I specifically want to have is being an Automobile Mechanic. A common role for an automobile mechanic is maintaining and repairing cars or light trucks, it's your job to figure out what's wrong with a vehicle and how to fix it, not always but sometimes you will also have to give an estimate on the price. these are also some common work activities listed by WOIS: Get information needed to do the job Make decisions and solve problems Operate vehicles or mechanized equipment Update and use job-related knowledge Identify objects, actions, and events Repair and maintain mechanical equipment Inspect equipment, structures, or materials Handle and move objects Perform activities that use the whole body Control machines and processes Use computers Repair and maintain electronic equipment Communicate with supervisors, peers, or subordinates Process information Analyze data or information Monitor events, materials, and surrounding...

What i am about to introduce to you a revolutionary new car that could pave the way for the future of affordable electric vehicles and its from a company most car enthusiast may not have considered. SONDORS … yes you know who im talking about, right now you may be thinking “hey, isn’t that the company with the bikes?” and yes it is but before but before you start getting picky because its not from some major car company please keep in mind that it is a prototype and to this day it still needs some funding but soon we may have on our hands this sweet ride for only $10,000. Compared to the cheapest Tesla (model 3) that costs $35,000 which is already significantly lower than its predecessor the SONDORS prototype EV is a steal. The fact that an electric vehicle is only $10,000 may have you thinking about what you may have to sacrifice, well if we’re speaking about performance you may not have to worry for starters the car is three wheeled and if you think that may not have much to do wi...

About me

My name is Gustavo, in was born in December of 1998 and I love cars of every year and every kind from the ford model A to Teslas new roadster. I want to master the art of automotive engineering because it's one thing to like cars because of how they look of what superstar is driving what brand and it's another thing to be passionate about the engineering aspects of a car. Everything about the cars engine and design fascinates me, how even the most minor of changes to any cars system can completely change the way the car functions just amazes me. I also love motorcycles though they are way more dangerous to drive nothing can really compare to that badass feeling you get when you’re running down the highway riding that beast like you own the road, come on anyone who likes cars or is at least interested in them speeds every once in a while because that feeling is far more addictive than any drug i've ever heard of and you know it. Sure you may not have a 300HP beast in your...

Hello and welcome to my blog. I know this blog may not look like much now but in due time I hope to watch it bloom along with my knowledge and skills in the world of automotive engineering. This blog was created as a school project but I will continue to use it as a tool that I can use to look back at the progress I've made. i will warn you that at the moment i started this blog all I know how to do is an oil change and how to change a tire, I'm mostly just really passionate about cars so if you're a beginner like me you have nothing to fear. this wasn't made for the people already know how to mod and tune their own cars, its made for me and you.  You will be following me on my journey to becoming an automotive engineer and maybe even after that, here I plan to post mostly things about new vehicles that could potentially change the automotive industry. If you're interested in things like new electric or gas vehicles, alternative fuels, new car designs or pretty m...
